GOOD Maker Challenge: Win $1,000 to Get People on Bikes

We're giving away $1,000 to help motivate your community get out of cars and onto bikes.

Most of us learned to ride bikes when we were kids. Mastering two wheels felt like we had conquered the world, and who can forget that sense of pride when you were finally riding alongside all the big kids? Biking once used to be the way we got around to a friend’s house or to school, but a lot of us leave biking behind as adults, switching to cars and saving bikes for weekend fun.

In honor of National Bike Month and the CLIF Bar 2 Mile challenge, GOOD is teaming up with CLIF Bar to recapture the fun and also the practicality of bike riding. We’re asking for your best idea to get your neighbors onto bikes. A $1,000 grant will go to the individual or organization who comes up with the most popular idea to get your community excited about life on two wheels.

Maybe you can host a biking tour of your neighborhood or start a local bike share program? How about organizing a pop-up bike repair day? The more innovative the better! If you need a little inspiration, check out this video infographic on how biking can reduce LA’s traffic or see how bikes can beautify a city.

Submit a proposal between May 14 (noon Pacific Time) and June 11 (noon Pacific Time) here. Then, from June 11 to 25 we’ll share your ideas and the GOOD community will vote on their favorite ones. Connect with this challenge on Twitter at @GOODmkr and join the conversation via #GOODbikes.
