The Catholic Church Kicks out the Jams
The Vatican's official newspaper, L' Osservatore Romano, just published what it calls a "semi-serious" list of the 10 best rock albums of all time. This is interesting because previously the Church has denounced all rock music. And while L' Osservatore putting out this list doesn't mean that Pope Benedict is listening to Lady Gaga in the back rooms of St. Peter's, at least they're getting with the program a little. Here is the full list (though the Wall Street Journal article from which this comes says only that Revolver is number one. Where is Bob Dylan?
Bob Dylan was excluded from the list despite his "great poetic vein" because he paved the way for generations of unprofessional singer-songwriters who have "harshly tested the ears and patience of listeners" with their tormented stories. How do you think the Church's list sounds?Via Gawker.
