A new AIDS vaccine being tested in Thailand turns out to be 31.2 percent effective. This is the first time a vaccine has worked at all. It's not good enough to distribute, and the researchers don't really understand why it worked, but you don't need us to tell you this is really good news.What you might need us to tell you is why this all happened in Thailand: It happened in Thailand because that's where AIDS is particularly problematic right now, and where a vaccine would be most useful, so they created a vaccine tailored to the strains that predominate there.
