The philosophy of slow food is based on an understanding of the provenance of our food, and the appreciation of each individual ingredient in our meals. In pursuit of that goal, the photographer Nicholas Alan Cope created these images of food purchased from Los Angeles farmers' markets, mixing the style of the Dutch masters with the modern ideal of local produce and meats.
