Whirlwind Wheelchair International has been designing durable, off-roading, locally-repairable wheelchairs since 1979. After the Haiti earthquake, the company knew its RoughRider model would be invaluable to survivors with spinal injuries. With the help of The Walkabout Foundation, Whirlwind began a project to donate 350 wheelchairs to hospitals around the country, with life-changing results for many immobilized quake survivors. It's good work.
