In her first major public appearance since announcing she is transgender, Jenner takes on her critics.
Caitlyn Jenner took the stage Wednesday night at the ESPY awards to accept the Arthur Ashe Courage Award and delivered a moving and emotional speech. In her first major public appearance since announcing she is transgender, Jenner used ESPN’s annual awards banquet to share her story and raise awareness for the struggles trans people around the world face everyday. As for her critics, Jenner had an important message for them too.
“If you want to call me names, make jokes, doubt my intentions, go ahead, because the reality is, I can take it. But for the thousands of kids out there coming to terms with being true to who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it.”
