Sixty-two year-old French architect Jean Nouvel was awarded the Pritzker Prize yesterday-the top annual award in the field.

The man behind the Torre Agbar (that rocketship-looking "water geyser") in Barcelona (pictured), the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, the Gasometer in Vienna, the Arab World Institute in Paris, and an impressively extensive cache of other innovative projects, succeeds the UK's Richard Rogers as the reigning master of haute architecture.

Among his upcoming endeavors: a 45-story luxury condo building (called "Green Blade") in Century City, a 75-story structure adjacent to MoMA in New York, and a new orchestra hall in Paris.
