"Carne Asada Is Not a Crime" proclaims the tag line at SaveOurTacoTrucks.org. It's a response to a recent piece of legislation in Los Angeles that prohibits mobile food vendors from parking in one location for more than one hour. The law came in response to outcry from traditional restaurant owners who argued that mobile vendors (read: taco trucks) are essentially parasites that steal business from brick and mortar restaurants. That might be somewhat true. But Los Angeles's taco trucks are like Philly's cheesesteak stands-truly vital components of the city.

In a sense, this law is just the opposite of New York's recent pro-vendor bill-as if residents of that city needed more ammunition in their "New York is superior to Los Angeles" conversation arsenal.

Anyway, here's a map of some of th best taco trucks in California that Gridskipper linked to a little while back. Whether those trucks will be there tomorrow remains to be seen.
