That's right, folks. You can thank Republican Senators Arlen Specter, of Pennsylvania, and Olympia J. Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine (as well as all 58 Democrats) for voting to make the $838 billion economic stimulus package a reality, though it still needs to go back to the House for "negotiations."Given that The Three (that's what we're calling these risk-taking trail-blazers) were the only Republicans in Congress to break party lines, they'll either go down in history as saviors or scapegoats. That, of course, depends on whether the economy, um, stimulates-stocks, it should be noted, haven't exactly skyrocketed in response to the news (though that may also be because of Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner's not-so-stimulating speech this morning on the semi-inscrutable plans for TARP, part two.)What do you think: is this plan just what the doctor ordered?
