You really must check out LittleSis, a new crowd-sourced website that documents the relationships of the people in power (the collective “Big Brother,” if you will). Collected all in one place is enough information to really hammer home the point that a small group of people are running our country and the world. See all of Condoleezza Rice’s board memberships and alma maters, and then judge her actions in a different light. Or find out that a man named Peter Rouse is working for Obama, used to work for HHS Secretary nominee Tom Daschle, and gave $1,000 to Tony Knowles’ 2004 Alaskan senate campaign. All at the click of a button. It may not do anything to fix the problem of the small cabal of elites really running the country (then again, that’s probably better than a large mass of average people, when you get right down to it), but at least you’ll know who is in the cabal that is making your decisions for you. And knowing is half the battle.

Why mass shootings spawn conspiracy theories
Mass shootings and conspiracy theories have a long history.
While conspiracy theories are not limited to any topic, there is one type of event that seems particularly likely to spark them: mass shootings, typically defined as attacks in which a shooter kills at least four other people.
When one person kills many others in a single incident, particularly when it seems random, people naturally seek out answers for why the tragedy happened. After all, if a mass shooting is random, anyone can be a target.
Pointing to some nefarious plan by a powerful group – such as the government – can be more comforting than the idea that the attack was the result of a disturbed or mentally ill individual who obtained a firearm legally.
