Last week we asked our Los Angeles readers to take photos of the annual “purple rain” that falls over the city: the blooming of the jacaranda tree. From the lavender canopies over city streets to the flurries of blossoms that decorate the sidewalks and lawns, the jacaranda makes for one of the most colorful signs of summer.
