What to do when a city becomes impossibly crowded, congested, and polluted? If you're the Egyptian government, you just build another one. Actually, make that two. Two megacities, 6 October City and the imaginatively named New Cairo, are being built outside the real Cairo from scratch. Planners expect the new satellite cities to house at least a quarter of Cairo’s 20 million residents within a decade.
