Hello Rewind: Upcycle a T-shirt to Help Survivors of Sex Trafficking

Do you have an old T-shirt that you don't wear very much but don't want to give away? Do you hate sex trafficking? Have we got the website for you.

Do you have an old T-shirt that you don't wear very much but don't want to give away? Do you hate sex trafficking? Have we got the website for you.

Send your old T-shirt to Hello Rewind. For $50, they'll upcycle it into a new laptop sleeve, complete with felt padding and velcro closure. Now you can keep that favorite T-shirt close even if you can't wear it to the office. As a social enterprise, Hello Rewind works with Restore NYC, a nonprofit that provides employment and education for foreign survivors of the sex trade in the city. Many of the laptop sleeves are handmade by these women.

Right now, Hello Rewind will make a sleeve to fit a 13-, 15-, or 17-inch Mac laptop, and also makes one for the iPad. The company plans to start upcycling T-shirts into other things as well.

And the name? "Hello Rewind" is "a nod to objects—and lives—made anew."
