Heroin makes Lou Reed feel like Jesus, and it won’t leave Guns N’ Roses alone, but how does it end up here in the United States? We take a look at the global opium trade from the poppy fields of Afghanistan to a shady street corner near you.

“Most of the opium leaves through the southern province of Balochistan”??? I really like your magazine and site but your researchers commit such amazing blunders so regularly, it’s really annoying and unprofessional. Balochistan is a Pakistani province, NOT a southern province of Afghanistan. Please check the map before putting such info out there.

Anonymous: You are right. Balochistan is a province of Pakistan. Balochistan also refers to the large region covering southwest Afghanistan, southeast Iran and southwest Pakistan.

Lindsay, you’re right, I should have clarified. The voice over says “Southern Province of Balochistan” not region, so that’s why I had an issue with it.Nice work nonetheless. It’s always great to see your work.
