Pop!Tech ’08: Welcome to Camden

The Pop!Tech conference is taking place here in Camden, Maine. Pop!Tech, if you’re not familiar, is an annual conference that was first held in 1996 as a forum on the social impact of technology. It’s since become something bigger. Speakers this year include Malcolm Gladwell and George Lakoff. This list of sessions for 2008 conveys the scope and focus, such as it is.
In the registration area, Yahoo is showing off their “Purple Pedals Project.” They’ve mounted a solar-powered camera on a bike (pictured). As you ride around, the camera takes a picture and uploads it to Flickr at 60-second intervals. You can then log in and see photos from your ride. I took the bike for a spin—what better way to check out the setting?
