The next big step in telecommunications services should arrive in the U.S. soon, according to ABI Research. Called a "quadruple play" or "grand-slam", a new wave of telecom offerings will see mobile, wireless broadband bundled with traditional phone, TV, and internet services. With these services unified on one network, companies would be able to cut consumer costs as well as simplify payment options by placing them all on one bill. One of the biggest challenges currently facing internet providers is finding enough bandwidth to support streaming video. Imagine an internet that could deliver thousands of unique and independent TV stations to mobile devices over wireless broadband. Quadruple play technology brings us one step closer.
