Google and Specialized Bikes have joined forces on a new contest. They're looking for interesting new ways of channeling pedaling power. It's called Innovate or Die.
Damn, well if you put it like that, I guess I'll innovate. (NOTE: As far as the "___ or Die" trope goes, this ranks just above New Hampshire's motto but well below "Skate or Die.")
From their website it looks like they suggest replacing the natural spin of the globe with a giant bike drive train.
Their promotions are a little grandiose and alarmist but there are definitely interesting ways of applying pedals. This Afrigadget video, for example.
