“It felt very therapeutic editing each photo as my appearance became unrecognizable and less human with every click.”
To illustrate what she felt were the media’s effects on the way we look at ourselves through the prism of public impression, artist Kelsey Higley created this animated loop of her digitally-altered Photoshopped self portraits.
“It felt very therapeutic editing each photo as my appearance became unrecognizable and less human with every click,” she writes on her artist’s statement. “This project reminds me that these things I categorize as my flaws are what makes me human. And I love that.”
