The Black Eyed Peas Use Super Bowl to Plug Education Reform

The Los Angeles-based pop group The Black Eyed Peas wants President Obama to improve the nation's education system—and they asked him to do so in front of the more than 100 million viewers of the Super Bowl XLV halftime show.

During the group's halftime performance of their Grammy nominated anti-war anthem "Where Is the Love?," Peas front man will.i.am deliberately switched up some of the lyrics and sang,

"In America we need to get things straight / Obama, let’s get these kids educated / Create jobs so the country stays stimulated."

One admirable thing about The Black Eyed Peas is how they use their popularity to consistently call for social action. Whether or not you're a fan of their music—or the overall halftime performance—this is probably the first ever reference to education reform during a Super Bowl halftime show.
