In the early post-election days, president-elect Donald Trump has already began to disappoint his base by stocking the swamp instead of draining it like he promised. As the majority of Americans who didn’t vote for Trump watch in disgust, many look for signs of hope in the face of darkness. One way Hillary Clinton supporters have healed after the election is through her resilience. This has inspired supporters who see her in public to share photos of Clinton persevering after the difficult loss.
The first photo appeared on Instagram on November 10th when Margot Gerster spotted Clinton “in the wild” on a walk through the forest in Chappaqua, New York. The photo showed a resilient Clinton carrying on in the face of a terrible defeat and helped uplift many Democrats who were reeling from the loss themselves. The photo quickly went viral, along with Hillary-spottings at a bookstore and supermarket.
The uplifting nature of the Hillary sightings prompted Adam Parkhomenko, Clinton’s former Director of Grassroots Engagement, to create a Twitter account compiling shots Hillary in the wild. “When I saw her she gave me a big hug and the first thing she said to me was, ‘I’m sorry,’ ” Parkhomenko told Vanity Fair. “I thought that she is the last person on Earth who should be consoling me a few days after the race was not called for her. But that’s who she has always been.” The Twitter account as since given solace to many Americans that can’t let go of a woman who has been a true source of inspiration.
