In June, we asked you to help us create a Picture Show about water. The response was overwhelming and your submissions made us giddy: we received photos of all kinds of water from oceans to swimming pools snapped from around the world. Unfortunately, we are unable to feature all of them, but we did our best to choose a range of images that capture water from a unique perspective. Below is a collaborative Picture Show, made by the GOOD community.

The Bee Gees' blissful a cappella 'How Deep Is Your Love' might beat the classic original

Few pop groups have ever harmonized more beautifully than The Bee Gees, and the perfect proof comes from a somewhat unlikely place: a laid-back 1998 appearance on the British variety series Des O’Connor Tonight. The trio—brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb—were on hand to promote their most recent project, the live album and DVD One Night Only, when they accepted the host’s request to perform a "jam session" of musical "bits and pieces."

The most famous snippet from the segment is a gorgeous a cappella rendition of "How Deep Is Your Love," the hit soft-rock ballad from 1977’s multi-platinum Saturday Night Feversoundtrack. In the clip, Barry and Maurice are both equipped with acoustic guitars, but after failing to figure out an ideal key, they decide to tackle the tune without them—a move that only highlights the fullness and sweetness of their harmonies. The performance isn’t pitch-perfect, but that’s beside the point: The studio’s natural reverb elevates Barry’s chorus falsetto and then accentuates gracefulness of the melody, particularly the harmonic tension and release during the lines "'Cause we’re living in a world of fools / Breaking us down / When they all should let us be / They belong to you and me."

How many seemingly magic moments have you captured in your own lifetime? How many seconds have brought you wonder and connection? How many opportunities do you have left with those people you really love and that mean the most? This isn’t a pass fail test nor an accusation that you might be doing it all wrong. This is more an occasion to recognize one family doing it right. And yes, maybe some effort and money and most importantly time to allow it to happen.

Grandma Barbara loves Disneyland. It was her childhood's happy place, and she hadn't visited for 30 years. As a surprise her family decided to take her there. Grandma's reaction in the video is honest and heartwarming, “Going to see Cinderella?” The video follows up with some moments around the park demonstrating Grandma Barbara is having a great time.

Science has been looking for the means to turn lead into gold. The story goes way back to the alchemists of ancient times who were attempting the transformation of both the material and spiritual. Endeavors of self-purification were symbolized with the concept of turning lead into gold, and also quite literally the seeking of a chemical solution for changing actual lead into genuine gold.

Unfortunately, historical alchemists failed in their attempts. Modern science may have succeeded. Perhaps you’ve heard of the Hadron Collider. The basics are this particle accelerator spanning a distance of 16 plus miles fires particles in opposite directions at almost, and it’s a hair shy, light speed so they can smash into each other and be analyzed. With one particular study they aimed two beams of lead ions at each other and in the instances where instead of colliding they just missed, something magical happened.

Tunisian entrepreneur discovers a new environmentally friendly fuel source: olives

Many people are trying to do their part to help the environment and combat climate change in all fashions, large and small. A few people turn that goal into a business. One such person is Yassine Khelifi, a Tunisian entrepreneur behind Bioheat, a company that produces and sells burnable bricks made from olive waste as fuel.

Tunisia is one of the world’s biggest producers of olive oil, projected to create 340,000 tonnes of olive oil from 2024 through the end of 2025. The process of creating olive oil creates leftover waste or “pomace.” Rural Tunisians had been burning this olive waste for fuel for their furnaces and using it as feed for livestock for centuries. This is where Khelfi saw potential for an eco-friendly business.

How a group of Japanese business men in suits became a beloved cheerleading squad

While in the U.S. you might see your fair share of men in suits driving to work, getting coffee, or riding the subway, in Japan you’ll also see them flying through the air, especially as Cheer Re-Man’s continue to make their mark.

Cheer Re-Man’s is a Japanese all-male cheerleading squad made entirely of Japanese “salarymen,” as they’re known, which “includes all white-collar male employees, whether newly recruited graduates or seasoned middle-managers,” according to Venture Japan. Salarymen work in corporate jobs, often fields like tech, real estate, and banking. They’re known in particular for the suits they wear to work. What’s different about Cheer Re-Man’s, however, is that they also wear suits when they’re done with work for the week–the squad’s name is “a mash-up of ‘cheerleading’ and ‘salaryman’,” Reutersshares–and they rehearse routines specifically in Uniqlo’s stretch suits so they can easily execute the gymnastic feats they’ve become known for since the squad began in 2023. There are no pom-poms here, but tons of tumbling, intricately synchronized dance moves, and stunt after stunt after stunt as these men leap–or get thrown!--into the sky, all while wearing suits and ties.
