Last week we announced that we're looking for help creating The Neighborhoods Issue of GOOD magazine. One element of that is a photo project we're pulling together, in partnership with Pictory, that looks at your favorite neighborhood spots.

What's the best thing in your neighborhood (outside your home)? Is it the park bench with an amazing view, the house that's ridiculously decorated for every holiday, or maybe a community space like a park or school? Include a photograph and a description that conveys the culture of the spot and of your neighborhood.
You can read more about the project, and learn how to submit, over at the Pictory website. But while you're out and about this week, try to bring a camera with you at some point and take a photo of your favorite spot. This could be a bar, coffee shop, library, park, bench, record shop, water fountain-whatever it is that gives you that "I love this neighborhood" feeling. And a word about composition from our creative director, Casey Caplowe: "When you do this, I'd love to get as intimate a picture as possible, but also something quite easy to replicate. For any retail place, I'm thinking a straight-up storefront shot, something like the photo below is perfect. Don't be too far away or zoomed out. And probably stay away from shots looking down the street or up at something or down at something-unless that's the only way to get your favorite thing."
