A new documentary, Nursery University, looks at the cutthroat preschool admissions process in New York City. Check out the trailer: these crazy Manhattan parents sure are competitive (and misguided):

00:00/00:0000:00

In the minds of these parents, the elite nursery schools feed into the city's elite prep schools, which feed into the elite colleges, which guarantee a life of opportunity. And while that's somewhat true, there are happier and less self-centered ways of getting really smart than dedicating your life to clawing into brand-name institutions. What this whole process actually teaches kids is that status is more important than substance in education, and that sucks.
