00:00/00:0000:00The past month or so has been pretty monumental in Honduras, what with the whole cout d'état that removed President Manuel Zeyala from office and replaced him with thrice-failed candidate Roberto Micheletti thing. There's been a rather glaring dearth of coverage of those events, and their implications, and, as far as I can tell, even less in the way of voiced perspectives of actual Hondurans, or Honduran immigrants.
But last weekend, reporting for The Nation, Marcos Meconi and GOOD contributor Joseph Huff-Hannon headed over to the Bronx's Ferry Point Park-a regular gathering spot for a number of New York City's 40,000 or so Honduran immigrants-in an effort to hear the varying perspectives held by the members of that community. The results (above) are pretty compelling.
