Intermission: An Animated Diary

For three years starting in June 2008, French artist and animator Denis Chapon drew 12 pictures a day, then knit them together into a short film.

For three years starting in June 2008, French artist and animator Denis Chapon drew 12 pictures a day—from faithful representations of his studio to fantastical images of people turning into octopi and octopi turning into people. After he finished the three years of drawings, he turned each day's work into one second of an animated film. Without changing the order of any of the pictures or adding any new ones, he knit them together to create a captivating four-minute film. If you look closely, you can see the date of each drawing in the bottom right corner, as well as the text printed on the other side of each piece of paper. We don't know Chapon personally, but "12 Drawings a Day" makes us wish we did.
