TapIt Helps You Find Free Water

  • Posted by: Andrew Price

One occasional frustration of life with a refillable water bottle is not knowing where you can refill it. If you’re out in the city it can be a lot easier to just cave and buy a bottle of water than wander around looking for a drinking fountain.

So kudos to TapIt. Their site and iPhone app will help you locate friendly cafes where you can fill up your bottle for free. TapIt is only operating New York at the moment, but the service would be useful in any metropolitan area. Hopefully they’ll branch out soon.

It’s so great to see you featuring the efforts of TapIt — someone mentioned them on http://www.greenwala.com (an online social network) which compelled me to join their Facebook page and follow what they’re doing on LinkedIn. Definitely a worthy endeavor in my opinion. I remember the good old days when a simple cup and a stream of water from the faucet was cause for celebration — now we’ve got carelessly tossed yet fully recyclable water bottles belching out of our landfills. That is the hugest crime — aside from being charged big money for municipal water — about the bottled water industry. And yet, what does it really say about the sensibilities of consumers? Baaaaaaahhhh. http://www.greenwala.com/community/blogs/all/1199-6-Extreme-Greenie-Water-Conservation-Tips-For-The-Dazed-and-Bemused

So Great!  When I was in New York last summer, any Starbucks was happy to fill my bottle – but I was turned down at a few other places!  I wish I would have had this app then!  I can’t wait until it’s expanded!
