The Ballsy New Tap Water Campaign: Lies

  • Posted by: Siobhan O'Connor
  • on July 27, 2009 at 8:23 am

Well, this is something: Tappening, the tap-water campaigners, has taken its gloves off and is fighting the bottled-water business the dirty way. Using the old beat-them-at-their-own-game approach, Tappening’s new Start a Lie campaign takes on truth in advertising by allowing you to create your own viral lie about bottled water. Because, as they say, “If bottled water companies can lie, we can too.”

Kind of clever, no?

Click through to see some of their ads, and visit their page to see some hilarious user-submitted entries (Matt Damon), or to create your own.

Meh, seems like making a joke out of the issue would cause people to care less about it.

The user submitted ones are perhaps my favorites (after the polar bear tears).

These ads are typical liberal hippy lies and stupidity. The stupid liberals started the entire bottled water movement by spreading lies about the harmful toxins in drinking water. After bottled water catches on, because people are morons, the same stupid liberal idiots turn around and start lies about bottled water. The funny thing in all this is that it was the stupid liberals who went into the bottled water business first, as soon as they are successful; the remaining liberal hippies go after their own. Just goes to show you that the only thing that really annoys liberals is success

In response to gigatoe, interesting insight. As far as science and consumerism, compounded with innovation, is concerned….there is always a “better” way to do things. The only problem is, that with new ideas and technology there must be rigorous testing and imagination involved pertaining to the outcomes. Indeed, our society likes to take things and run with it rather than truly thinking about the good AND bad outcomes of our decisions. Maybe bottled water was a bad idea to begin with, but polluted water and the lack of ability to deliver clean water by municipalities was and still is a real problem we face in this so called “modern” world.
