Hey, we made some changes to the GOOD website yesterday. The biggest change is the homepage facelift. The homepage still shows a feed of whatever’s latest, but the posts (and images) have been shrunk a bit so we can include more of them. Also, we’re now just using one flag-that blue one-to tally a post’s combined comments and GOODMarks. There are a bunch of changes to the individual post pages as well, and a variety of other, more subtle improvements. The site should be quite a bit faster, too.So take a look around and let us know what you think-especially if you’re a regular reader (we’ll recognize you and listen extra-attentively).UPDATE: Thanks for the feedback, folks. We’ll keep reading all your comments and improving things. Trust we’re hustling to get everything ship-shape, especially on the comment formatting front. And JDRX, sorry about the lost work! We always like hearing your thoughts.

Why mass shootings spawn conspiracy theories
Mass shootings and conspiracy theories have a long history.
While conspiracy theories are not limited to any topic, there is one type of event that seems particularly likely to spark them: mass shootings, typically defined as attacks in which a shooter kills at least four other people.
When one person kills many others in a single incident, particularly when it seems random, people naturally seek out answers for why the tragedy happened. After all, if a mass shooting is random, anyone can be a target.
Pointing to some nefarious plan by a powerful group – such as the government – can be more comforting than the idea that the attack was the result of a disturbed or mentally ill individual who obtained a firearm legally.
