In the last ditch effort to make the state of California economically viable after boldly failing at that goal for years, the Assembly and State Senate agreed on a budget, and Governor Schwarzenegger just made some tiny last minute cuts to make it all balance out. What did he take out?“The cuts include slashing $25 million from health clinics; $52 million from AIDS prevention, education and treatment programs; $16 million from domestic violence programs; $50 million from Healthy Families, which provides health insurance for poor children; and $37.6 million from In-Home Supportive Services.”I guess those IOUs to poor people weren’t enough. But don’t worry, the governor, elected officials, and various other state officials will still draw their salaries and get their health care benefits, despite the fact that they’ve run an entire state into the ground. Why is there no campaign in the state for a massive recall of all the schlubs working in Sacramento? Just not giving them a raise? That’s not really enough.

Why mass shootings spawn conspiracy theories
Mass shootings and conspiracy theories have a long history.
While conspiracy theories are not limited to any topic, there is one type of event that seems particularly likely to spark them: mass shootings, typically defined as attacks in which a shooter kills at least four other people.
When one person kills many others in a single incident, particularly when it seems random, people naturally seek out answers for why the tragedy happened. After all, if a mass shooting is random, anyone can be a target.
Pointing to some nefarious plan by a powerful group – such as the government – can be more comforting than the idea that the attack was the result of a disturbed or mentally ill individual who obtained a firearm legally.
