#30DaysofGOOD Challenge: 3. Share an Old Photo with a Friend

Each month, we challenge our community to do something that will improve the world around us. September's challenge? To connect.

Welcome to The GOOD 30-Day Challenge (#30DaysofGOOD). Each month, we challenge our community members to do something that will improve the world around us—and our own lives. The challenge for September? To connect with other people. In an effort to help us all rise to the occasion, we're going to assign one small task every day. Each morning, we will post the challenge on GOOD.is and Twitter, along with a testimonial from someone on the GOOD team who's already completed it. We invite you to complete all 30 mini-challenges with us! Today, we challenge you to:

Share an old photo with a friend.

There are not many ways in which I am sentimental, but one thing I love to do is look at my emails dated exactly one year ago and get a sense of what I was up to, who I was talking to, what was important to me. And it just so happens that last year at this time I was on an adventure through the redwoods with one of my oldest and closest friends, Josh.

This week, I found a photo of the two of us ready to embark on our road trip last year, all smiles with the lush green Pacific Northwest in the background. We look like siblings, in unintentionally matching plaid shirts. This picture might not meet the conventional definition of the description "old photo," which typically evokes black and white photographs with crumbling edges. But to me, running across it was just as delightful as seeing a weathered image from the family album. I forwarded it to Josh, and it inspired us to start planning our next trip together.
