This prototype of a system called "skinput" (and it is definitely a prototype) lets you use your forearm or fingers to control your electronics. It works by sensing the acoustic waves that travel through your arm when you tap yourself.

Could this system ever take off? Clearly one hurdle will be getting rid of the huge, cumbersome cuff of sensors. But even if they did that, I'm not sure this represents much of an improvement over a good touch screen. And we'll control our electronics directly with our brains in a few years anyway, right?
