The Wounded Warrior Project's mission is to "honor and empower" men and women who have suffered severe injuries in military service. By creating programs and services for veterans, facilitating peer-to-peer aid, and raising public awareness, the Wounded Warrior Project shows what it really means to support one's troops.
Recently, in a partnership with Disabled Sports USA and Billabong Surf Camps, the organization held a surf-day in North Carolina for wounded vets. Surfline has a nice photo feature on the day's events. It's the sort of thing that engenders in us fits of weakness, pride, and general teary-eyed appreciation.
