A new poll by the Pew Institute has taken the pulse of Muslim America. The funny part about numbers is how easy it is to paint them in different lights. This article says that "63 percent believe that there is no conflict between being a devout Muslim and living in a modern society." That can really easily be that nearly half of American Muslims think there is a conflict. Also, more than half identify themselves as Muslims instead of as Americans. Not mentioned in the article, but in the report, which you can find here, is that 13% of American Muslims say suicide bombings are justified. That number goes up to 26% when you only include youth under 30. On the flip side, 72% believe that hard work can lead to success in American society, more than the overall population of the country.
