Former NFL-er Fights the School-To-Prison Pipeline for At-Risk Kids

After years as a professional football player, Eason Ramson is helping kids get on the right track.

In this video from AJ+, former NFL player Eason Ramson tries to help at-risk youths stay in school and out of prison. Working with the YMCA’s CARE (Center for Academic Re-entry and Empowerment), a “truancy program in the form of a school,” he helps kids that miss a lot of school get back on the right track. The faculty at the Bay View Hunter’s Point YMCA in San Francisco, made up of former at-risk youths, not only helps get kids back into school, but also tries to get to the root of their problems and give them the self worth they need to succeed going forward.
