Intermission: Virtual Reality Could Help Relieve Real Chronic Pain

Dr. Diane Gromala and her team are using virtual reality to allow people to focus on their pain and recreate mindful meditation.  As unnatural as it may sound, focussing on one's pain— instead of ignoring it or dulling it with narcotics—might be the key to controlling it.
