Images of Professor Sydney Engelberg going the extra mile for one of his students has the world smiling.
While many professors may be irritated by a baby crying during the middle of their lecture, Sydney Engelberg did something that has shocked a lot of people because of its pure humanity. He picked up the baby, sat it on his grandpa hip and continued to teach. The child’s mother was about to exit the lecture before Engelberg stepped in to help.
This paternal move by the Hebrew University professor in Jerusalem didn’t shock his daughter, Sarit Fishbaine.
“There’s a lot of young moms and a lot of them have babies, and he encourages them to just bring their babies to class,” she said. Engelberg teaches for the master’s degree program so many of his students are parents.”
My dad just loves kids and loves babies, he has five grandchildren, so he just takes the baby,” Fishbaine said. “He’s the one that’s in motion, he’s walking around the class. So he just takes the baby and continues teaching.”
