Slate's wine columnist Mike Steinberger investigates how the '47 Château Chevel Blanc-arguably the most celebrated vino of the 20th century-got to be so good. And in the end, he says it "now ranks as the greatest wine of my life, a title I doubt it will relinquish."
Rare in quantity (Steinberger counts only 10 magnums and 40 bottles in the château's very own cellar), and practically priceless, even this red's "flaws inexplicably became virtues."
