Last month, GOOD and Levi's teamed up to bring you the "A Day in a Pair" contest, which awarded three lucky readers with $100 to use towards doing good in one day. (And as an added bonus from Levi’s, they also received a $150 Levi's gift card.) Submissions have closed, and we are now excited to present each of the winner’s days.
Meet Bethany Harris, an east coast transplant in Los Angeles who works as a Starbucks barista and also puts down roots in her community through urban agriculture. With the help of Food Forward and TreePeople, Harris developed Project Reroot, a series of community involvement opportunities around urban agriculture, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
Well-versed in food insecurity and gardening, Harris set out on her day to teach the next generation on planting and tending a garden. Harris kicked off a partnership between ONEgeneration, a daycare center for children and seniors, and Project Reroot during her day. See how she used $100 and her gardening know-how to educate a kindergarten class about planting, harvesting and enjoying fruit.
Make sure to check out the other winners here and here.
