Detroit has been ridiculously slow to pick up on people's desire for fuel-efficient cars. So it's up to mad scientists like Johnathan Goodwin and his Wichita, Kansas, workshop to innovate. Goodwin is building a biodiesel-electric hybrid Hummer that'll have 600hp and get 60 miles to the gallon.
How does this Frankenstein's Hummer work? It uses a 1985-issue jet turbine to charge "supercapacitor" batteries so it's electric engine can pull off incredible feats of strength over and over.
He's starting to get a reputation. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Neil Young have ordered mods for their cars and yeah, even Detroit is starting to notice.
