In his 2010 TED talk, the branding expert Alan Siegel argues we have to simplify legal documents. Here's his proposal for a simplified credit card agreement.
I'm not sure if this particular prototype is the answer to our problems, but in general it makes a lot of sense to simplify the legal forms and documents that are a part of everyday life. We have laws about what sort of legal information has to be included in a credit card agreement, for example, and how small the print can be, but there's no guarantee that the language is actually intelligible to people. That totally defeats the purpose of requiring that companies provide it.
