The first pictures of Virgin Galactic's private New Mexico spaceport are here.

Flights would (will?) begin in 2009 and cost somewhere between $100,000 and $200,000. Just to be clear, the ships will take "travelers" up beyond the official boundary of space, give them six minutes of weightlessness, and return to the same spot on earth.

It sounds like a blast, but a momentous occasion for mankind? We're not sure.

Humanity's ambassadors in the new era of private space travel? Paris Hilton, Dave Navarro and Moby are all reportedly interested in the first flights.
