Hey, remember Goth? It's still back. In a great piece for NYTimes, Cintra Wilson chronicles the rise and surprising endurance of mourning garb as an aesthetic raison d'être. Quoth Wilson:The goth subculture, however, for those who live it, is more than the sum of its chicken bones, vampire clichés and existential pants. It remains a visual shortcut through which young persons of a certain damp emotional climate can broadcast to the other members of their tribe who they are. Goth is a look that simultaneously expresses and cures its own sense of alienation. Are there any goth readers out there? What do you love (or hate) about it? Are there any especially creative things you do (or used to do) to cultivate an intriguing dark aesthetic?
