So I didn't volunteer at a soup kitchen yesterday. I have many times in the past, but not this year. Might have something to do with the fact that the last time I tried, the church basement I'd signed up to help was so overrun with volunteers that I was turned away without so much as peeling a carrot. Of course, the lesson here is clear: Volunteers are needed year round, for a million and one reasons, and one-day-a-year good will just doesn't cut it.Given these tough times, there's more need than ever. There are also more and more people with tons of free time on their hands, willing to help out--even if it isn't Thanksgiving, Christmas or Kwanzaa. Major sites like this can help you find places in your area that could use a helping hand in your area. So no more excuses, k?
