What happens when a bunch of scientists get together and let loose with some EPA data on carbon emissions and a Google earth API? They create this really impressive and insanely detailed interactive map of where CO2 from fossil fuels was released, and by what sources (commercial, industrial, residential, etc.). You can search data by county, though sadly the data is only from 2002. Still, a great way to visually appreciate the severity of carbon dioxide emissions.
