Intermission: Lesbian Mothers Confront Bigoted Mayor

by Wylie Overstreet

December 14, 2011

In this video, a lesbian couple eloquently, graciously confronts the mayor of their small Michigan town who recently posted anti-gay sentiments on her Facebook page. The women, seeking nothing but understanding and acceptance, give the mayor exactly that—their words are friendly, humorous, and positive. When they finish, the crowd erupts.

It's a reminder of how powerful kindness can be when anger is expected.
