As 2011 fades to black, it's all too easy to look back and feel enervated. Our most recent circuit around the sun was composed of equal parts triumph, tragedy, and tumult; to consider it in its entirety is to need a very large, very stiff drink. And 2012, so long as the Mayans have it wrong, will likely be similar.
