“We’ve been friends for a long time”
Kim Kardashian may have famously “broken the Internet” but now her husband Kanye West and President-elect Donald Trump want to burn it to the ground.
The two famously infamous icons held a surprise meeting at Trump Tower in New York on Tuesday morning and afterward paused in the lobby for a truly surreal photo opportunity with the press.
“He’s a good man,” Trump told reporters while West stood by silently with his arms crossed, showing off his newly bleached blonde hair.
It was the first official public appearance by West since canceling his world tour to seek treatment for reported mental health issues at UCLA’s Medical Center. Perhaps not coincidentally, one of West’s last headline grabbing statements before canceling his tour was when he stopped a show a few minutes into his set to declare that if he had voted in the 2016 election, he would have voted for Trump.
“We’ve been friends a long time,” Trump added while cameras snapped photos of the pair. When asked what they discussed during their meeting, Trump simply said, “life.”
A few determined reporters kept asking West whether he still planned to make his own run for president in 2020, earning a big grin from Trump. When he finally did speak, West simply said, “I just wanted to take a picture right now.”
As the pair ignored continued questions from the press pool, they embraced in a handshake and chest bump, where Trump could be overheard saying to West, “You take care of yourself and I’ll see you soon,” before offering a similar gesture to one of West’s entourage.
It might just be the most bizarre moment of Trump’s still-not-official presidency so far and yet another reminder that we truly have no idea what’s in store for 2017 and beyond.
