Early in 2007, the Mexican President Felipe Calderon declared war on his nation's drug traffickers. Since that time, drug-war-related violence has claimed the lives of 6,285 people-that's more than the total number of U.S. casualties in the war in Iraq.As part of an ongoing effort to tell the stories behind these devastating numbers, LATimes has assembled a series called "Mexico Under Siege."
