Neil deGrasse Tyson Takes Down Rapper B.o.B for Insisting the World Is Flat

Then he drops the mic, literally. Boom.

Rapper B.o.B is saying that the world is flat and he has proof. So, on The Nightly Show, Larry Wilmore invited Neil deGrasse Tyson to put the rapper in his place.

“The earth looks flat because you are not far away,” the scientist and Cosmos host explains, addressing the hip-hop star. “It’s a fundamental fact of calculus and non-euclidean geometry. Small sections of large curved surfaces will always look flat to little creatures that walk upon it.”

But then NDT goes further, admonishing the rapper for spreading ignorance. “There’s a growing anti-intellectual strain in this country, and it may be the beginning of the end of our informed democracy.” He explains that everyone is free in this country to believe what they want to believe. “But if you think the world is flat and have influence over others … then being wrong becomes being harmful.”

Then he drops the mic, literally. Boom.
