"So many people think that just having an idea and being passionate and having a mission is enough."
In the second installment of our interview series with social enterprise leaders, GOOD talks to Cheryl Heller, who works at the intersection of design, communication, and enterprise in a number of roles—as CEO of Heller Communication Design; chair of the board of PopTech, the social innovation nonprofit; and founder of a new MFA program in Design for Social Innovation at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
When we asked Heller to give some advice to social entrepreneurs, she told us a good idea isn't enough: You need to do your homework, iterate on existing success, and figure out how to fit into the existing landscape. And, just as importantly, you need to figure out how to communicate what you're doing—systematically and across platforms.
Every Friday, GOOD gives you a minute of insight from an impact economy leader.
